Vietnamese Frozen Potato – Premium Quality for Global Export

Origin

Vietnamese frozen potato is renowned for its natural starchy texture, uniform kernels, light yellow color, and excellent crispness after thawing, thanks to the cool highland climate and advanced freezing technology. Vietnam is an emerging major producer and exporter of frozen potato products in Asia. Key production regions include:

  • Northern mountainous provinces (Đà Lạt - Lâm Đồng, Sơn La, Lào Cai): Largest area with ideal cool climate for high-quality potatoes.
  • Central Highlands (Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk): High yields with imported and hybrid varieties.
  • Mekong Delta & Southeast region: New cultivation areas using modern techniques.

Production Process

  1. Cultivation of high-quality potato varieties (harvested at optimal size, about 90-120 days after planting).
  2. Hand-harvesting in the early morning to maintain freshness.
  3. Washing, sorting by size, peeling (optional), and cutting into slices or leaving whole.
  4. Quick blanching (brief hot water treatment) to preserve color, prevent browning, and maintain crispness.
  5. Shock freezing using IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) at -35°C to -40°C.
  6. Packaging and storage at -18°C.
  7. Quality inspection, fumigation (if required), and pesticide residue testing.
