QUALITY STANDARDS FOR WHOLE FRESH DRAGON FRUIT :
External Appearance Standards
- Skin: Bright red color, uniform coloration, free from scratches, black spots, mold, or blemishes.
- Scales (bracts/wings):
- Scales must remain fresh green.
- Maximum 3 broken scales per fruit allowed.
- No fruit accepted with scales broken at the base (close to the fruit body).
- Length of green part of scales: 1.5–21.5 cm.
- Stem end: Cut flush/close to the fruit; stem cavity must be clean.
Internal Quality and Fruit Structure
- Fruit condition: Firm, no bruising, crushing, wilting, or softness.
- Flesh: White or red (depending on variety), firm texture, not mealy, cloudy, rotten, or cracked. Seeds black.
- Weight (varies by market):
- S: 300–380 g
- M: 381–460 g
- L: 461–600 g
- Cleanliness: No dust, soil, black latex stains, or metallic residues on the surface.
Packing
- 5 kg/box or 10 kg/box, or as per customer’s requirements.
Food Safety and Quarantine Standards
- Chemical residues: Pesticide residues must comply with the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of the importing country; must not exceed permitted levels.
- Plant quarantine: Must meet the phytosanitary requirements of each importing country.
- Quality control: Growing areas and packing facilities must have registered codes and follow certified production practices such as VietGAP or GlobalGAP.
