SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALITY STANDARDS FOR FRESH PASSION FRUIT
Fruit Condition
- Fruits must be fresh, intact, free from bruising, crushing, rot, or decay, and exhibit the characteristic passion fruit aroma.
Color
- Skin: Natural color, free from pest or disease damage.
- Pulp: Light yellow.
Internal Quality
- Sugar content: Minimum 8%
- Citric acid content: Minimum 0.6%
Size & Uniformity
- Fruits within the same carton must be uniform in size and at the same maturity stage.
Food Safety
- Free from harmful organisms: Clean fruits, no fruit fly infestation or other pests/diseases.
- Pesticide residues: Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) must comply with the regulations of the importing country.
- Hygiene: Food safety and hygiene ensured throughout cultivation, harvesting, processing, and packing.
- Quarantine: Must undergo plant quarantine inspection and obtain a Phytosanitary Certificate before export.
Packing and Transportation
- Packing: Packed in new, clean, hygienic standard cartons.
- Cartons must have ventilation holes and internal dividers/compartments to prevent fruits from rubbing or impacting each other.
- Cold Storage: Stored in cold storage at 5–8°C with suitable relative humidity (approximately 90% ± 5%, or as specifically required by the destination market).
- Transportation: Transported in refrigerated containers (reefer containers) to maintain stable temperature and humidity throughout the journey.
- Labeling: Full labeling with information including origin, growing area code, packing house code, product details, and information in both English and Chinese (required for export to China).
