Fresh Cassava (Tapioca) Whole Root and Sliced from Vietnam
Specifications:
- Types:
- Whole root: Straight tubers, light brown skin, white or yellow flesh, firm, non-fibrous, no rot; graded by size S (diameter <5cm), M (5-8cm), L (>8cm).
- Sliced cassava: Fresh peeled tubers, cut into 3-5mm thick slices or strips, bright white, no blackened ends, uniform.
- Quality: Clean, fresh, no pests/diseases, no rot, low HCN content (<50ppm), no pesticide residues; meets export standards.
Forms: Fresh whole root, fresh sliced (slice/strip), frozen whole root or sliced.
Production:
- Mainly grown in Central Highlands provinces (Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk, Kon Tum, Đắk Nông), Southeast region (Tây Ninh, Bình Phước, Đồng Nai), and Mekong Delta (Long An, Tiền Giang).
- Harvested year-round, peak season November–April next year; harvested after 8–12 months, dug manually or mechanically, peeled (for slices), washed clean, soaked to reduce toxicity, sorted.
Uses (Culinary & Medicinal):
- Culinary: Boiled, fried, used in soups, made into flour, cakes; main ingredient for confectionery, noodles, vermicelli.
- Medicinal: Rich in starch for energy, fiber for digestion; contains vitamin C, folate (when properly processed to reduce HCN).
Applications in Other Industries:
- Starch & Food Processing Industry: Extracted tapioca starch used as thickener and binder in instant noodles, confectionery, sauces, bread; production of modified starch, glucose, fructose syrup.
- Biofuel: Fermented to produce bioethanol on a large scale.
- Animal Feed: Cassava pulp and leaves (detoxified) as high-energy livestock feed.
- Other Industries: Starch for adhesives, textile sizing, paper, biodegradable plastics; cassava flour as raw material for MSG (monosodium glutamate) production.

- Whole root: PP bags or mesh bags 50–100 kg (for bulk export).
- Fresh/frozen slices: Cartons 10–20 kg (ventilated, lined with PE bags), or vacuum-sealed PE bags.
