Fresh Whole Purple Shallot from Vietnam
Specifications:
- Types: Purple shallot (hành tím/hành hương) – small bulbs, glossy purple-red skin, light purple to white-purple flesh, strong spicy and aromatic flavor (typically stronger than onion).
- Quality: Clean, dry, firm bulbs, intact skin, no sprouting, no rot, no pests/diseases, no pesticide residues; graded by size S (2-3cm), M (3-4cm), L (>4cm).
Forms: Fresh whole bulbs (roots trimmed, skin intact), naturally dried, peeled fresh, frozen whole bulbs or peeled cloves.
Production:
- Mainly grown in northern and central provinces: Bình Định, Quảng Ngãi, Khánh Hòa, Ninh Thuận, Sóc Trăng, partly in northern areas (Hải Dương, Hưng Yên).
- Harvested year-round, peak seasons March–May and October–December; harvested after 3–4 months, naturally sun-dried for 5–7 days, roots and stems trimmed, sorted manually or mechanically.
