Origin

Vietnam is one of the world’s top rice exporters (consistently ranked in the top 3-5 globally), famous for high-quality fragrant and specialty rice. Vietnam produces both long-grain white rice and premium aromatic varieties. Key production regions include:

• Mekong Delta (Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long): Largest rice bowl of Vietnam (An Giang, Đồng Tháp, Kiên Giang, Cần Thơ, Sóc Trăng, Cà Mau) – accounts for over 50% of national output.
• Red River Delta (Northern): High-quality sticky and ordinary rice.

Production Process

1. Land preparation and sowing (wet or dry season).
2. Transplanting or direct seeding.
3. Growing period: 90–120 days depending on variety.
4. Harvesting when grains are mature.
5. Drying (sun or mechanical) to 14% moisture.
6. Milling: Husking → polishing → grading by grain length (long, medium, broken %).
7. Sorting, color sorting, fumigation, and packaging.
