Canna Starch (Arrowroot Starch) from Vietnam

Specifications:

  • Types: Native canna starch, modified starch; pure white or slightly ivory color, fine powder, no lumps.
  • Quality: Moisture ≤13%, whiteness ≥92%, very high viscosity, ash ≤0.3%, pH 5-7, gluten-free, non-GMO; meets premium export standards.

Production:

  • Raw material from canna/arrowroot tubers grown mainly in northern mountainous and central provinces (Thái Nguyên, Phú Thọ, Yên Bái, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi), Central Highlands (Gia Lai, Đắk Lắk).
  • Process: Washing → peeling → wet grinding → pulp separation → sedimentation → protein removal → refining → drying → fine milling → packaging in modern factories meeting international standards.

Uses (Culinary & Medicinal):

  • Culinary: Used for bánh lọt, bánh đúc, bánh canh, desserts, rice rolls; provides characteristic chewy-crisp texture and natural transparency for glass noodles.
  • Medicinal: Excipient in pharmaceutical tablets; provides energy, easily digestible, suitable for gluten-free diets.

Applications in Other Industries:

  • Food Processing Industry: Thickener, provides chewiness, high water retention in glass noodles, rice rolls, bánh lọt, sausages, Vietnamese ham, ice cream, yogurt; production of traditional canna vermicelli.
  • Pharmaceuticals: Primary excipient in tablets and capsules (good compressibility, fast disintegration, glossy tablet finish).
  • Cosmetics & Personal Care: Thickener in creams, masks, face powders (provides smoothness, oil absorption).
